Ouray Software is a small startup founded in 2001. We offer both software products and software consulting services.
Our core purpose is to increase software productivity through intelligently designed tools resulting in customer savings and new development opportunities. Our key technology is a new software platform, Ouray, that enables us to write software more efficiently. This platform was built based on experience and active technology research spanning a decade and implemented over a period of a few years; it has already proven to increase software development efficiency.
The first application of our technology was a new software version control tool, OurayCM. This tool has features that rival those in the leading software version systems and has important features most lack.
The second application of our technology was a small project we did in the summer of 2004, GateCloser. This tool was developed under contract by a salesman with an idea: He had been using PhotoShop to show clients what a new gate might look like on their property, but using a general-purpose image processing tool for this was too labor intensive. GateCloser is specialized to his needs, making this process easy.
OurayCM and GateCloser are two very different products: OurayCM is a data-intensive client/server application; GateCloser is an image processing application. But both were easier to implement using our Ouray technology than would have been with traditional technology. We are confident that Ouray can be used to make implementing a wide range of applications easier.
Ouray Software is run by two hands-on software developers: Shayne Wissler (CEO) and Eric Jensen.
Each Ouray Software engineer brings a wealth of experience from past projects. Technical experience includes: C++; Java; databases; client/server; Graphical User Interfaces; web development; image processing; cross-platform development including Windows, Linux, Mac, and Solaris; real-time and embedded systems; device drivers; 3D programming and more. Other experience includes management of the whole software development process for large systems, including proposal writing, requirements, architecture, implementation, and testing.
The company is named after an idyllic town in Colorado, called Ouray. There are a few ways that the word "Ouray" is typically pronounced: "you-RAY" and "yah-RAY". We like to pronounce it "oo-RAY".
